A great, great Track from the great, great Album "Love and Death".
"Love and Death" |
74 year old Ebo Taylor is one of the true greats in Ghanaian Music. A multi-talented Musician, Singer, Composer, Frontman, Arranger and Producer. After studying in Londen nearly Side by Side with other African greats like Fela Kuti and Peter King, he returned to his Homeland Ghana and formed the "Black Star Highlife Band" to incorporate Jazz Elements into the traditional "Highlight" Sounds of Ghana. In the 60´s he joined "Essiebons Records" as an Arranger and Producer. He has released several Solo-Albums in the 70´s and 80´s, but "Love and Death" is his first ever released "International Album". The Album was recorded with the outstanding Berlin based Musician-Collective "Afrobeat Academy" and Jan Weissenfeldt (Poets of Rhythm) on Guitar and Mixer. Thats definitely the Way it should sound!
“For new album, I wanted to advance the cause of Afrobeat music. Fela started it and we shouldn’t just abandon it. We should push it so it is a standard form of music.“ (Ebo Taylor)
Strut also releases a Compilation of his (mostly earlier) Works soon. "Ebo Taylor - Life and Stories will be available on April 22th. Presale is already running.
