 A great, great Track from the great, great Album "Love and Death".

"Love and Death"

74 year old Ebo Taylor is one of the true greats in Ghanaian Music. A multi-talented Musician, Singer, Composer, Frontman, Arranger and Producer. After studying in Londen nearly Side by Side with other African greats like Fela Kuti and Peter King, he returned to his Homeland Ghana and formed the "Black Star Highlife Band" to incorporate Jazz Elements into the traditional "Highlight" Sounds of Ghana. In the 60´s he joined "Essiebons Records" as an Arranger and Producer. He has released several Solo-Albums in the 70´s and 80´s, but  "Love and Death" is his first ever released "International Album". The Album was recorded with the outstanding Berlin based Musician-Collective "Afrobeat Academy" and Jan Weissenfeldt (Poets of Rhythm) on Guitar and Mixer. Thats definitely the Way it should sound!

Mighty Oaks is the Folk-Project of Claudio Donzelli and Ian Hooper, two Berlin-based Singer & Songwriter & Multi-Instrumentalists from Italy and USA. The name of the Band comes from the saying "Mighty Oaks from little Acorns grow" and shall reflect the development of the Project one Day. They self-produceed an Album in their make-shift Studio, wich has not been announced yet. Check out the Preview on Sound Klick! below.

In Preperation of a bigger Post about Munich´s legendary Funk Band "The Poets of Rhythm," founded 1991 by Max & Jan Weissenfeldt (and Wolfi Schlick), i´ll post today two Tracks here, the first one, "Vision", is a great Deep Jazz Track from Max W. (and Wolfi´S.) Souljazz-Sideproject "Das goldene Zeitalter".

The second one, "Moira", is an amazing Psych-Funk Masterpiece from groundbreaking Poets Album "Discern/Define", wich is still one of my Alltime-Alltime-Favorite Tracks. I never get tired listening to the whole Album, because its so unbelievable deep and good!

I have always been a huge Poets-Addict, and im really looking forward to present you more of their Sounds and Background here on I.L.W.A.B.

Sooooo. I guess this is the best Song i discovered this Year, so far. Lets call it Lo-Fi-80´s-Indie-Funk from Portland. Sound like a Blend between Phoenix, Bowie and the Poets. And it has a strong "Sofia Coppolla-Vibe" to me. This Tune really took me in and i play it all Day long, while riding my 2Wheel-Space-Vehicle through the City of Love. Its Spring!!! As i got a "Wakeup-Call" last Spring from Myron & E and "The Tallest Man on Earth" (meet me, by the Way, on his Cologne-Concert 22nd May), this is my first Spring-Favourite this Year.
